July 5 @ 7:00 pm Sold Out
Come and hear the 12 amazing performance soloists aged 13 to 18 years, showcasing a wide variety of instruments and styles – something for everyone!
The evening will start with announcement of prizes for the Young Composer sections, with two compositions themed around “Bold & Fearless!” and “Colour & Shapes” to be heard.
The Youth Music Awards was started by Sutherland Shire Council in 1991 and since 2001 has been run by a committee of volunteers from Sutherland Music Club. Adjudicators for 2024 are Dr Steve Watson & Elizabeth Lim (Performance) and Claire Edwardes and Ben Robinson (Composition).
Entrants in the Youth Music Awards must live or attend school in the Sutherland Shire or St George areas. Although the total of cash prizes (Performance and Composition) at this 32nd Finals Concert amount to over $6000, the focus is on the performance experience gained rather than the competition aspect. The finalists’ names will be announced early in June!
