Presented by Sutherland Music Club

Come and enjoy everything from opera and pop, to hymns and numbers from musicals by great male voices, along with classical soprano favourites from Natalia Melnik and pianist John Martin. A bracket of Carols to finish, is sure to get you into the Christmas spirit!

The Men’s Shed Chorale is a choir of senior men who love to produce great choral music. From a few singers around a home piano, the group, led by its talented young Musical Director, Daniel Parkee and Accompanist, Rebecca Tan, has developed into a choir which has performed over 150 concerts throughout the Sydney area. The MSC brings life to the old adage of there being many a fine tune played on an old fiddle – being blessed by some fine solo voices, these men bring a lifetime of talents to the stage. They will present a wide variety of wonderful music including “Danny Boy”, “You Raise Me Up” and “Nessun Dorma”.

Natalia Melnik holds a Graduate Certificate in Music (AIM) and is currently conducting her doctorate research at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She has worked as a Russian Language for Singers coach with the Australian Institute of Music, Sydney Conservatorium Choir, Sydney Art Song Society, The Opera and Art Song Collective and numerous individual singers from around the world. She currently teaches at the Sydney Conservatorium Open Academy, Murray Conservatorium and privately. Natalia and John will present some beautiful excerpts from the “Messiah”, Mozart’s Alleluja, “Amazing Grace” and “Ave Maria”.

John Martin has become celebrated as a sensitive and entertaining performer, in a colourful career of great variety. As pianist and Music Director, John has worked with many stars including David Hobson, Marina Prior, Mark Vincent, The Australian Tenors, Deborah de Graaff, Vov Dylan, Teddy Tahu Rhodes, Amelia Farrugia, Jane Rutter, Yvonne Kenny, Greta Bradman, Geoffrey Chard, Miriam Margolyes and Composer, Ann Carr Boyd. John was also the department store pianist in Bruce Beresford’s movie “Ladies in Black”!
