“Harp’s Journey”

This is an amazing opportunity to hear the talents of Louise Johnson, one of the most prominent harpists in her field. From medieval to modern, classical to jazz, and acoustic to electric, Louise will take you on an exciting journey through the ages.

Audiences will hear pieces incorporating Louise’s versatile collection of harps, including the Ancient Harp, Medieval Harp, Bray Harp, Renaissance Harp, Baroque Harp, Classical Harp, Irish Harp, Romantic Harp, 20th Century Harp, Paraguayan Harp, and the Electric Harp. Each will have its story told and Louise will perform examples of music appropriate to each period.

Louise has had an association with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra lasting 50 years, giving her first performance with them at the age of 14 and later joining as Principal Harp in 1985, a position she held until 2019. She has performed internationally and with all the major Australian Symphony, Opera and Ballet Orchestras, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Australia Ensemble and has toured Australia with companies such as the Bolshoi and Sadler’s Wells Ballet.
