Officially opened in 1922 this hidden gem has been home to performances by Sutherland’s local theatre and music companies for many years. Its refurbishment is now complete and the Sutherland Arts Theatre is open for business.
Situated on East Parade, the former Memorial School of Arts has a capacity of 160, and is the perfect home for comedy, music, film screenings and theatre productions requiring an intimate space.
The refurbishment has enhanced its significant heritage value and enables a broader range of performing arts programs with an upgraded theatre and staging facilities, new bar and courtyards.
The re-opening of The Sutherland Arts Theatre signifies a significant part of Sutherland Shire’s history is recognised for generations to come. It will contribute to the revitalised performing arts precinct, also encompassing The Pavilion.
