Creative Residency Program

A new residency for artists, creatives and makers in the Sutherland Shire. Your art. Your practice. Your vision.

For the very first time, The Pavilion is opening its doors to local creatives through the Pavilion Creative Residency, a brand-new grant designed to give you what so many artists crave: time and space to create.

We believe great ideas need room to grow. That’s why we’re offering five consecutive days of free space at The Pavilion for you to explore, experiment, rehearse, or refine your craft.

What You’ll Receive

  • Exclusive access to one of three creative spaces at The Pavilion (Encore Room, Black Box, The Sutherland Arts Theatre).
  • A flexible, professional venue adaptable to a variety of artforms: Music, theatre, dance, photography, film, writing, painting, design and so much more.
  • The chance to focus on your practice without the weight of venue costs or external pressure.

Who We’re Looking For

This residency is for all creatives – emerging, mid-career, or established. We welcome applications across every artform and practice. Whether you’re sketching a new idea, polishing a performance, composing music, weaving stories (or baskets), or building something we haven’t imagined yet, we have the space for you.

How to Apply

Applications are simple and approachable by completing the short form below. While priority will be given to creatives based in the Sutherland Shire, we warmly welcome applications from artists and practitioners beyond the region. Our aim is to nurture local talent while also encouraging diverse voices and practices from further afield.

Why a Residency at The Pavilion?

The Pavilion sits at the heart of the Sutherland Shire as a place where community, creativity, and culture come together. With this new grant, we’re inviting local creatives to claim space, time, and energy for their ideas.

Be Part of the First Cohort

As the very first round of the Pavilion Creative Residency, your work will help shape the future of this program. You’ll be part of the story from the beginning, laying the foundation for years of creative growth in our local community.
