Prepare to be transported through a world of timeless classics when The Golden Age of Broadway and Beyond comes to life on Sunday 8 November at 2:00 pm at the Pavilion Arts Centre, Sutherland.
Baritone Simon Militano leads this theatrical celebration of Broadway and big-band legends, accompanied by a full 11-piece orchestra under the baton of renowned musical director Glenn Amer. Fresh from their sold-out performances as Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan in Carousel, Simon is joined by guest artist Pippa Luscombe, reuniting to bring audiences a spellbinding musical experience.
From the romance of South Pacific and the charm of My Fair Lady to the heartfelt storytelling of Carousel, the passion of Les Misérables, the majesty of The Phantom of the Opera and the uplifting spirit of The Sound of Music, this concert is a journey through Broadway’s golden age — and beyond. Audiences will also enjoy timeless favourites made famous by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Sammy Davis Jr., with rich orchestrations and the elegance of a live harp adding shimmering beauty to the performance.
Dynamic video projections by Susie Henderson, winner of the 2024 APDG Award for Video Design for Julia, bring a striking visual dimension to the concert. Her acclaimed work spans Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir, Griffin Theatre, and the Michael Cassel Group’s London production of The Picture of Dorian Gray.
