Friday 26 May
A fun, informative and inspiring day and a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with their favourite authors and discover new ones.
The hugely popular day is carefully curated to give your students an engaging and educational journey into the world of literature. Writers and illustrators talk about their creative process, stumbling blocks, successes, and take questions from the audience.
Storyteller and STEM creative Cristy Burne (Wednesday Weeks) shares her love for all things scientific; co-authors Jordan Gould and Richard Pritchard invite students to meet Wylah, a hero 40,000 years in the making and star of their bestselling historical fantasy series, Wylah: The Koorie Warrior; Maryam Master shares some of her own life story as she discusses No Words, her compassionate and hopeful book about 12-year-old refugee Aria; and the British author of Skandar and the Unicorn Thief, A.F. Steadman, takes students on an epic new adventure into a world where unicorns are real, but they’re also deadly!
The Primary School Days program is best suited to school children in Years 3 to 6.
We acknowledge the Dharawal people as the Traditional Custodians of the land within the Sutherland Shire. We value and celebrate Dharawal culture and language, and acknowledge Dharawal people’s continuing connection to the land, sea and community. We pay respect to the Elders and their families, past, present and emerging, and through them, to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
