“The dangerously ambitious show that makes Cirque du Soleil look tame…It’s brilliant entertainment.” ~ Sydney Morning Herald
“★★★★ family-friendly circus that delivers awe and wonder…a mix of contortionism, music, percussion, and acrobatics that shine as vibrant celebration of African culture”
Culture Fix
Drawing on the Nyamakala tradition of circus practiced in West Africa, Afrique en Cirque is a hectic blend of acrobatics, music and choreography which takes contemporary circus to dizzying new levels of fun.
Daring acrobats accompanied by skilled musicians perform authentic and original choreography to the pulsating rhythm of the djembes of Guinea, celebrating the diversity of traditional African culture and sweeping the audience into a wildly good time.
Afrique En Cirque celebrates the strength, agility and joy of African youth. With the melodious sound of the Kora, creator Yamoussa Bangoura transports us to a place where the diversity of traditional African performance is combined with the virtuosity of a modern North American Circus performance.
“★★★★ the performance explodes into life with relentless energy and colour. Singing, dancing, whacking big drums, it all happens concurrently to lift us off our seat and hold us gripped for the full hour and a bit more too. My friend loved it. The crowd, standing in ovation, loved it. And I did too.”
