Experience a rarely heard pairing of instruments when guitarist Simon Powis and violinist Anna Da Silva Chen present musical snapshots from across the globe. Romanian folk dances, Spanish melodies infused with North African influences, and Argentine tangos share a program with works by JS Bach and Robert Beaser.

Castalia Vocal Consort is a new Sydney vocal ensemble, passionate about the expressive possibilities of a cappella singing. These extraordinary ensemble singers will present madrigals from Monteverdi and exquisite contemporary pieces in a sumptuous selection of music.

In a rare recital appearance, pianist Tonya Lemoh offers works inspired by a line from a poem by TS Eliot: ‘the stillness, the dancing’. Soulful, profound works – like Haydn’s final piece for solo keyboard, or Liszt’s tone poem about the Romantic hero Obermann – are paired with life-affirming dances.
